Deshaun Thomas Declares For NBA Draft (PHOTOS)

COLUMBUS, Ohio (www.incnow.tv) - Fort Wayne native Deshaun Thomas will forgo his senior season at The Ohio State University and enter this year's National Basketball Association draft.

"My three years at Ohio State have been the best years of my life," says in a statement released by the Ohio State athletic department Friday. "I have grown tremendously as an individual and as a basketball player."

Thomas, who graduated from Bishop Luers High School, averaged 19.8 points per game in his junior season, leading the Big Ten Conference in scoring. Thomas earned first team All-Big Ten honors this season, and was named preseason All-America.

"His accomplishments on the floor speak for themselves," Buckeyes head coach Thad Matta says in the statement. "We recruited him offering the opportunity to grow as a person and player and that is exactly what happened."

Thomas finished ninth in career scoring at Ohio State with 1,630 points.

While at Luers, Thomas averaged roughly 32 points per game, won 2010 Indiana Mr. Basketball, 2010 21Alive Boys Player of the Year and was a McDonald's High School All-American.

Thomas says he intends to eventually receive an Ohio State degree, the statement says.

The NBA draft is June 27.
