M. Golf. Brad Kane Named Head Men's Golf Coach At La Salle

Feb. 14, 2013

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. ? Brad Kane, who guided Penn State Harrisburg to two straight conference championships, has been named the head men?s golf coach at La Salle University, director of athletics Dr. Tom Brennan announced today.

?Brad has successful experience as a college coach and knowledge of the game of golf as a coach, sportswriter and administrator,? Brennan said. ? We look forward to Brad leading our program for years to come.?

Kane was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012 after his PSU-Harrisburg squad won the league title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament. In both seasons a Nittany Lion golfer won the individual medalist honors.

He also served as the NEAC golf chair and the NEAC representative to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee.

?I?m very pleased to part of the La Salle family,? Kane said. ?There?s a great opportunity for us to get better in a hurry, and I hope to take the program to places it?s never been before.?

In addition to starting the program and coaching PSU-Harrisburg for six years, Kane spent six years as a golf professional at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course and one year at the Country Club of Harrisburg.

Kane also spent three years as a sportswriter at the Harrisburg Patriot-News, covering local and national golf.

He is currently the director of the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust at the Golf Association of Philadelphia.

He graduated from Penn State University in 1995 with a degree in journalism.
